Do I need a referral to see Dr. Carmachel?
No referral is needed. You can contact our Phoenix office directly to schedule an appointment at any time by calling (602) 953-1900.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring a valid photo ID, your insurance card, any relevant medical records or imaging such as X-rays or MRI results, and a list of any current medications or supplements you are taking. Arriving a few minutes early to complete new patient paperwork is also helpful.
How long will my first appointment take?
Your first appointment is typically longer than follow-up visits as it includes a thorough consultation, health history review, and physical examination. Plan for approximately 45 to 60 minutes for your initial visit. Follow-up appointments are generally 20 to 30 minutes depending on your treatment plan.
Chiropractic Questions
Is chiropractic care safe?
Yes — chiropractic care is one of the safest forms of healthcare available when performed by a licensed and experienced chiropractor. Dr. Carmachel has extensive training and experience in delivering safe, effective chiropractic adjustments. Side effects are rare and typically minor, such as temporary soreness similar to what you might feel after a new workout.
Does getting a chiropractic adjustment hurt?
Most patients experience little to no discomfort during a chiropractic adjustment. Some patients feel immediate relief, while others may experience mild soreness for a day or two as their body adjusts. Dr. Carmachel always works at a level that is comfortable for each individual patient and will explain every step of your treatment before beginning.
How many chiropractic visits will I need?
The number of visits depends entirely on your specific condition, its severity, and your individual health goals. Some patients experience significant relief after just a few visits, while others with chronic conditions may benefit from ongoing care. Dr. Carmachel will discuss your recommended treatment plan during your first visit and will always be transparent about what to expect.
Do you accept insurance for chiropractic care?
We accept many major insurance plans for chiropractic care. Please call our office at (602) 953-1900 to verify your specific coverage before your appointment. We also work with auto insurance for motor vehicle accident patients and offer flexible payment options for those without insurance coverage.
Acupuncture Questions
Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are extremely thin — much finer than needles used for injections — and most patients report feeling little to no discomfort during treatment. Some patients feel a mild sensation of pressure or warmth at the needle insertion points, which is completely normal and typically indicates the treatment is working. Most patients find acupuncture deeply relaxing.
How many acupuncture sessions will I need?
The number of acupuncture sessions needed varies depending on your condition and health goals. Acute conditions may respond well in just a few sessions, while chronic conditions typically require a longer course of treatment. Dr. Carmachel will discuss a recommended treatment plan with you after your initial consultation.
Functional Medicine and Weight Loss Questions
How is functional medicine different from seeing my regular doctor?
Functional medicine takes a fundamentally different approach than conventional medicine by focusing on identifying and addressing the root causes of health problems rather than simply managing symptoms with medication. Appointments are typically much longer and more comprehensive, advanced diagnostic testing is used to get a detailed picture of your health, and treatment plans are completely individualized to your unique biology and health history.
How long does it take to see results with the weight loss program?
Results vary from patient to patient depending on individual factors such as metabolism, hormone levels, adherence to the program, and underlying health conditions. Most patients begin to see meaningful results within the first few weeks of starting the program. Dr. Carmachel will set realistic expectations and provide ongoing support and monitoring throughout your weight loss journey.
