Among the finding published in the Archives of Internal Medicine: eating one serving a day of unprocessed red meat (about the size of a deck of cards) was associated with a 13 percent increased risk of death; eating one serving a day of process red meat (one hot dog or two slices of bacon) boosted that figure to 20 percent. Not only does red meat cause cancer, but Swedish researchers also have found a link between eating processed meat, such as bacon or sausages, and pancreatic cancer.
